Well, we weren’t in Belgium for long. We’re somewhere in France, maybe a half-hour or so from the Belgian border, taking a safety break and enjoying a snack. We have a reservation for the next two nights in Reims, and it’s still early in the afternoon, so there’s no need to rush.
Germany wasn’t really part of our grand plan for this trip to Europe, but yesterday we slipped across the border from Luxembourg for some pleasant sightseeing in Trier, an ancient Roman city. Christian let me know that I had to order the right beer for the city I was in. In Düsseldorf, they brew Alt, so that’s what they drink. In Cologne, they brew and drink Kölsch. I would be frowned upon if I ordered a beer in the wrong city. Those fortunate enough to live in Monheim am Rhein could order either, when in Monheim, of course.
