Platform of the train station, Sète, France, on a hazy afternoon

I snapped this photo from the platform of the train station in Sète last fall, as Kathryn and I waited for our ride back to Montpellier. It was a sunny and somewhat hazy afternoon; converting the photo to black-and-white made it look a bit less washed out.

Train station in Sète, France

There’s nothing particularly distinctive about this platform or this train station. In fact, what I like about this photo is that it could be almost any station in almost any medium-sized French city.

For several months this photo has also been the desktop background on my computer at work. I like to use black-and-white backgrounds because it makes the color icons stand out.

    1. Thanks! Cool observation on your part. Perhaps I should have written “almost any medium-sized European city.”
