After last night’s film, we finally got back to the hotel at about 11:30 pm. The hotel lounge apparently closes at 10 pm, and our room doesn’t have a minibar, so we walked down the street to a local Irish pub for a nightcap. I entered the pub fully expecting to order a typical Irish pub beer like Guinness, but I immediately noticed they were serving Legend Brown Ale on draught. This was my favorite local beer when I lived in Richmond, but the one I ordered on my last visit here left me disappointed. Maybe it was stale, or maybe it was served at the wrong temperature, but for some reason it didn’t taste right that day, making me skeptical the brewer was maintaining its previously high standards. After a moment of hesitation, I decided to take a chance and try it one more time. I’m glad I did. It’s still my Richmond favorite.
By the way, while we were at the pub I made the observation that I woke up on Wednesday and would be going to bed on Friday, which is quite unusual for me. At first Kathryn said it didn’t count because we changed time zones and because I slept a bit on the plane, but after some discussion she decided she’d let me have this claim.
