Sun Voyager sculpture in Reykjavik

My digital camera died the first week of my six-week trip to Europe in 2006. Before it stopped working, I managed to get a few decent photos in Iceland, including this one of the Sun Voyager sculpture along the shore in Reykjavik.

This is definitely a landmark photo opportunity in Iceland. It seems like everyone who has been there has at least one picture of the Sun Voyager sculpture. There weren’t many people out and about the day I snapped this photo, so I was surprised that all my photos had people in them. Later I realized having someone in the shot gives you an idea of the size of the sculpture.

For the rest of the trip, I had to settle for photos taken with the camera on my smartphone. Most of them are quite grainy. When I got home, I realized the good camera didn’t work because I was using the wrong kind of batteries. Live and learn.
