During a hike last weekend at Shaw Butte, I pointed my camera south and took a picture of downtown Phoenix under a thick layer of smog. I converted the photo to black-and-white to bring out the detail of the buildings.
I’ve seen smog like this over Phoenix before, but it was particularly bad for a weekend.
When I posted the photo on Facebook a few days ago, my sister pointed out it was a “no-burn” weekend. At least the authorities were aware of the problem, even if the citizenry largely chose to ignore it.
